Hedge Layer Agent beta
Hedge Layer Agent is the agent component of Hedge Layer, alongside its financial data tool layer. The published v0.6.8 download installs as Hedge Layer Agent with the compass icon.
A desktop workspace for supervised market research, with saved conversations, charts, source links, visible tool activity, and adjustable reading and appearance settings.
All desktop versions are beta and still being tested. Developer-program enrollment and release signing are not yet complete. Windows installers are unsigned; macOS beta apps have an ad-hoc integrity signature but are not Apple Developer ID signed or notarized. Security prompts are expected. You do not need a developer account or Node.js to test a downloaded installer.

Download for macOS Intel| Operating system | Choose this architecture | Requirements and access |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Intel / AMD 64-bit (x64) | Windows 10/11. Public v0.6.8 installer; Windows ARM64 is not validated. |
| Linux | x64 or ARM64 | A graphical session, Electron desktop libraries, FUSE 2 or extraction, and Chromium sandbox support. Public v0.6.8 AppImages. |
| macOS | Apple Silicon (ARM64) or Intel (x64) | macOS 13 or later. Public v0.6.8 beta DMGs for both CPU architectures. |
Native checks cover Ubuntu 24.04 x64/ARM64, Windows Server 2022 x64, macOS 14 Apple Silicon and macOS 15 Intel. Windows 10/11, macOS 13, other compatible OS versions and customer hardware still need manual beta testing.
Verify your download
Download the adjacent .sha256 file or SHA256SUMS from the same trusted build. Use the same v0.6.8 SHA-256 checksums for all platforms. Extract a ZIP bundle before running these commands. Replace the example filename if you chose a different architecture.
Windows PowerShell:
Get-FileHash .\agent-h-desktop-0.6.8-windows-x64.exe -Algorithm SHA256Linux terminal:
sha256sum agent-h-desktop-0.6.8-linux-x64.AppImagemacOS Terminal:
shasum -a 256 agent-h-desktop-0.6.8-macos-arm64.dmgThe full SHA-256 must match the checksum file. If it differs, stop and download again from the intended build. A checksum confirms the bytes match; the beta still lacks verified publisher signing.
Windows installation
- Download the
windows-x64.exeinstaller and verify its checksum. - Quit any existing copy, then open the installer. It installs for your current user.
- For a trusted, verified download, if SmartScreen shows Windows protected your PC, choose More info → Run anyway if offered. An Unknown publisher warning is expected for this unsigned beta.
- Open Hedge Layer Agent from Start after installation, then follow the connection steps below.
Managed devices may block unsigned apps or hide the exception option. Ask your administrator; do not disable SmartScreen or antivirus. Windows ARM64 is outside the current validation scope.
Linux installation
Use uname -m to check your CPU: choose x64 for x86_64 or ARM64 for aarch64. Download and verify the matching AppImage, then make it executable and launch it. For x64:
chmod +x agent-h-desktop-0.6.8-linux-x64.AppImage
./agent-h-desktop-0.6.8-linux-x64.AppImageYou can also allow execution in the file's properties and open it from your file manager. The AppImage uses FUSE 2; Ubuntu 24.04 calls its compatibility library libfuse2t64. See the AppImage FUSE setup guide.
If FUSE is unavailable, extract the image and run its shipped launcher:
./agent-h-desktop-0.6.8-linux-x64.AppImage --appimage-extract
./squashfs-root/AppRunChromium's sandbox still needs unprivileged user namespaces. Ubuntu 24.04 can restrict them through AppArmor; an administrator may need an app-specific profile for the installed path. Keep the sandbox enabled and do not add --no-sandbox. Extraction fixes FUSE availability, not a sandbox restriction. See Ubuntu's user-namespace guidance.
macOS installation
macOS 13 or later is required. In Apple menu → About This Mac, Chip identifies an Apple Silicon Mac (M series); Processor identifies an Intel Mac.
- Choose the public macOS download above. No GitHub or Apple Developer account is needed.
- Choose
agent-h-desktop-0.6.8-macos-arm64.dmgfor Apple Silicon, oragent-h-desktop-0.6.8-macos-x64.dmgfor Intel. Download its checksum and verify it. - Quit any existing copy. Open the DMG, drag Hedge Layer Agent into Applications, eject the DMG, then open the copied app.
- If Apple cannot verify the app or developer, dismiss that verification warning with Done or Cancel. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, and choose Open Anyway beside Hedge Layer Agent.
- Confirm Open and authenticate if prompted. This creates an exception for this app. A replacement beta build may require another approval.
See Apple's first-launch instructions. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally or remove quarantine recursively. A detected-malware or damaged-app warning is different: stop, verify the hash and report the warning instead of bypassing it. Managed Macs may require administrator approval or prohibit exceptions.
You do not need to enroll in the Apple Developer Program to install or test the beta. Apple enrollment, Developer ID certificates and notarization are steps for our future signed releases. Automated DMG validation does not replace testing a browser download and Finder first launch on a separate Mac.
Connect your workspace
- Install and open Hedge Layer Agent.
- Sign in to Hedge Layer and create a read-scoped personal token in API tokens.
- Open Settings → Connection in the desktop app, paste the token, and save.
- Start a conversation, for example: “Find open Polymarket markets worth researching.”
Your Hedge Layer token provides hosted inference and data access; no separate model-provider key is needed. Without a token, you can test the shell and local conversation management; live research needs an authenticated connection and network access.
Use Scheduled jobs to create a recurring market scan, review upcoming jobs and read results. You can also ask Hedge Layer Agent to propose a custom schedule and confirm it in the conversation.
Desktop and WhatsApp connect to the same cloud agent through Hedge Layer, with separate conversation lists. Code and files run in a private cloud workspace. Conversations are cached on your computer and retained in the cloud; appearance preferences stay local, while data-source selections apply across your Hedge Layer account. Desktop supports research; it does not submit or cancel orders.
Cloud conversation history expires after 14 idle days or a runtime update; the local transcript can restore visible history. Workspace files last one hour. Download files you want to keep.
Test and report a problem
- Check the version and platform in Settings → About. v0.6.8 also shows a Beta label in the app.
- Start research, select markets, inspect streamed answers and charts, stop a response, send a follow-up, and open a source link.
- Change theme, reading size and send key. Quit and reopen; confirm that preferences and conversations persist.
- Use Ctrl on Windows/Linux or Command on macOS for shortcuts: N for new research, K for search, comma for Settings, and period to stop. Shift+Enter inserts a newline; the alternate send key is Ctrl+Enter or Command+Enter.
- On macOS, close the last window and reopen from the Dock; Command+Q quits. On Windows/Linux, closing the last window quits.
- On a separate Mac, test the browser download and Finder approval steps above. Record any policy that prevented approval.
Report the app version, build or download source, OS version, CPU architecture, installation method, exact warning, and steps to reproduce to the Hedge Layer team, or through the desktop issue tracker (repository access required). Remove tokens and private research content from screenshots and logs.
Developers with source access can also build and run the native verification suites. No Apple enrollment is needed for the beta development path.
Usage and updates
Open Settings → Usage to see this week's remaining Hedge Layer Agent allowance across Desktop, WhatsApp and scheduled runs, as a percentage remaining and the reset time. Weeks start Monday 00:00 UTC.
Public releases are checked for compatible updates at startup and every six hours, or from Settings → About → Check for updates. This v0.6.8 public beta is a separate download channel and is not offered by stable update reminders. Download the beta for your OS from this page when a new beta is published.
Quit Hedge Layer Agent before replacing the installed app. Your existing desktop profile retains conversations and settings. Updates are installed manually.
